Dr. Alexandra Nicoletti, Ph.D.
Alexandra Nicoletti, Ph.D. specializes in acute, chronic, and complex presentations of trauma and PTSD. She provides therapy to those who have experienced sexual and intimate partner violence, combat and military sexual trauma, and co-occurring PTSD and substance use. She treats clients with complicated childhoods, complex relationship dynamics, and those who feel they can never “power down.”
Dr. Nicoletti believes the relationship between a client and therapist is the key to healing and self-understanding. Using a warm, empathic approach, Dr. Nicoletti forms strong and genuine relationships with her clients that foster safety in session. Drawing from a variety of evidence-based modalities such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), she creates specialized interventions to support each client’s goals.
In addition to her overall approach to treatment, Dr. Nicoletti is also a certified provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Written Exposure Therapy (WET). These time-focused treatments target specific PTSD symptoms and are ideal for addressing single or closely-clustered traumatic experiences.
Earning both a master’s degree and doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Rowan University, Dr. Nicoletti also received training in integrated healthcare systems and behavioral health. Her dissertation and graduate research focused on understanding predictors of sexual and gender-based violence to inform prevention programming. She brings clinical experience from college campuses, residential facilities, community mental health, veterans hospitals, and primary care. Dr. Nicoletti also has extensive experience in treating substance use, addiction medicine, and patients living with HIV.
