Commonhealth Psychological is growing, and starting October 1, Dr. Alexandra Nicoletti, Ph.D. joins the practice, seeing clients in person at our Center City office and virtually.

Dr. Nicoletti works with high-functioning professionals who carry more than they show. Attorneys, physicians, first responders, and other high-pressure professionals often present as capable and composed while quietly managing the effects of trauma, chronic stress, or a nervous system that never “powers down”. She treats acute, chronic, and complex presentations of trauma and PTSD, including intimate partner violence; military trauma; physical, psychological and sexual trauma; and co-occurring PTSD and substance use. She also works with clients navigating complicated childhoods and complex relationship dynamics.

Dr. Nicoletti believes the relationship between a client and therapist is the key to healing and self-understanding. Using a warm, empathic approach, she forms strong and genuine relationships with her clients that foster safety in session. Drawing from a variety of evidence-based modalities, including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI), she builds specialized interventions around each client's goals. She's also a certified provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Written Exposure Therapy (WET), two time-focused treatments well suited to single or closely clustered traumatic experiences.

She earned her master's and doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from Rowan University, with clinical experience across college campuses, veterans' hospitals, primary care, and addiction medicine. Dr. Nicoletti also has extensive experience providing affirming care to LGBTQIA+ individuals.

If you're an attorney, physician, first responder, or another high-pressure professional who's been carrying more than you show, or you know someone who is, Dr. Nicoletti is now taking new clients.
