We are excited to share that Dr. Rachel Allen, PsyD, has joined Commonhealth Psychological. Dr. Allen is a licensed clinical psychologist whose work sits at the intersection of psychology and physical health, an area of care that is often underserved and increasingly needed.

Her clinical focus includes:

●       Health psychology and adjustment to chronic illness. Dr. Allen works with people navigating a serious diagnosis, chronic pain, or the emotional weight of ongoing medical treatment. Her approach is grounded in evidence-based care and shaped by the reality that living with illness affects mood, identity, relationships, and daily functioning in ways that deserve real clinical attention.

●       Caregiver stress and burnout. Caring for a spouse, parent, or child with a serious illness is one of the most demanding roles a person can hold, and often one of the most invisible. Rachel offers a space for caregivers to be the ones cared for, and to build the sustainability their role requires.

●       Insomnia and sleep difficulties. Dr. Allen is trained in CBT-I, the gold-standard behavioral treatment for chronic insomnia. It is short-term, structured, and effective, and it works without long-term reliance on sleep medication.

●       Mental health care for medical professionals. Physicians, nurses, and other clinicians face unique pressures and often unique barriers to seeking care. Rachel understands that landscape from the inside and offers care that respects both the demands of the work and the person doing it.

She is licensed in Pennsylvania and New York, and practices in all PSYPACT states, allowing her to work with clients across most of the U.S. Her sessions are offered via secure telehealth, making it possible for clients to access consistent, high-quality care from home. She is currently accepting new clients.

Bringing Dr. Allen onto the team reflects the way we grow: deliberately, one clinician at a time, with a focus on fit, quality, and long-term care for the people we work with. We could not be more pleased to have her here.
